Fe y Alegria: Exploring the complex relationship between education and migration
Over 250,000 Guatemalans were apprehended at the US souther border last fiscal year. Most were from the department of Huehuetenango. Migration is a reality of life for Fe y Alegria schools in Guatemala, although it’s not universally viewed as an adversary. Instead, teachers and students alike see education as a means to give students a choice and prepare them to lead productive lives whether they are in their country of birth or host community.
